Movement Analysis
After the American civil war, liberated African-Americans searched for a safe place to explore their new identities as free men and women they found it in Harlem from there they spawned, The Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned the 1920’s. At the time it was called the New Negro Movement, most of the literature from that time included visual arts but excluded Jazz, despite its parallel emergence as a black art form. Great poets from this time include Counte Cullen and Langston Hughes.
