The Black Arts Movement also known as Black Aesthetics Movement or BAM is the artistic branch of the Black Power movement that began in 1960-1970. It was started in Harlem by writer and activist Amiri Baraka. Known as one of the most important times in African-American Literature, the BAM movement sought to change political views and American cultural views. Poets were African American Artist who sought to change mindsets on African Americans.
